In order to promote mobility professions within its labor market, Keolis Orléans partnered with CRIJ (Regional Youth Information Center) Centre-Val de Loire that serves to create a 3D film introducing these jobs. This immersive virtual reality content presents these activities from the inside in order to attract future young recruits.

Context: attracting talent into mobility professions, a critical challenge

Keolis Orléans is a major employer in the Orléans metro area, located in central France. Promoting mobility professions, notably among young people, is a critical challenge at a time when competition remains stiff with other booming sectors like e-commerce.

Innovation: Virtual reality, an immersive experience to discover jobs at Keolis

At the start of 2020, Keolis Orléans and the Centre Région Information Jeunesse Centre-Val de Loire assembled a team of young 3D filmmakers. Six of them, equipped with cameras, audio equipment and a drone, filmed the various professions at Keolis. “The Keolis event allowed me to challenge my knowledge and put me in a hands-on situation with VR recording. I really liked working with the dynamic staff of Keolis and discovering the various jobs,” says Justine Llorca, Director of the InCahoots Production audiovisual studio. Within the Keolis VR project, she was Head of organization, pre-production, production and VR tour editor.

The result: a 15-minute immersive dive into the daily life of five professions, through a virtual reality headset: bus and tram drivers, regulators, maintenance technicians and ticket checkers. The applicant, teleported into real-life situations, discovers the different facets of the job: management in actual conditions, organizing a depot or phone support from a central hub. This immersive content is combined with interviews of professionals explaining the duties of their jobs.

Benefits: teaching applicants, partners and elected officials about mobility professions

The feedback from drivers is clear: the virtual reality movie offers a true-to-life depiction of their professional environment. “From driving trams in the city to strolling through a depot, immersive content is combined with professional interviews to better understand the reality of our professions,” confirms Pierre Lagarde, Innovation, Projects and Information Systems Director at Keolis Orléans Métropole.

So much so that it is already distributed by the Keolis Human Resources service and the CRIJ at job fairs and hiring events. It is also shown at the Keolis Orléans head office to present the Group’s professions to partners and elected officials.
